These songs were recorded by me, Chris Hansen, and Dan Crowell in a Bearsville cabin, attempting to shake off the strange after-effects of "Last Light" and burning out in Brooklyn. There are so many redirections in our lives — this was one of my favorites.

This was originally called "The Freeep" — the free EP. We wanted to give it away because we were stalled between albums due to outside forces. However, our label took the music from us and started making people pay for it. So, we changed the title to "Auri Sacra Fames" — Latin for the accursed greed for gold.

For the time being, it will once again be free. If you'd like to pay for it, that's cool, too.
